Guy calls, kind of an older guy, and asks about them: whether they are original or sport/race, etc. I tell him the springs are Mazda OEM and the front shocks are Konis and the rear shocks are OEM but pretty worn right now. I’m not sure if he’s still going to want them but I can’t lie about those weak shocks.
He sounded a bit hopeful when I said they were OEM parts. I asked if he specifically wants OEM because he’s racing and needs stock parts to meet specs, but he says no, they are looking for softer springs and shocks because “these kids, you know, they put all these stiff parts on the cars these days.”
I think these will be perfect for his needs.

OEM bilsteins? If he’s racing he should be planning to rebuild them anyway.

He might not change out the rear shocks either. He will think he is in a Buick Miata.

Sounds like he’s an autocrosser! ES (NA/NB) class has been pretty heated ever since SCCA bumped the first two generations of Miatas out of CS (home of the NC and now the ND). Class rules require a near-stock setup (shocks can be 2-way aftermarket but spring rates and size must stay the same).

No, here’s the thing.... He’s not interested in performance at all. He bought a used Miata that had been tarted up and he wants it back to comfy for daily driving.
